New Adam, New Eve
Adam was made a living being, the new Adam a life-giving Spirit.
Adam is of the earth, the new Adam is the Lord from heaven.
Adam gave way to the devil and brought on mortality and death to himself and to his posterity.
The new Adam, Jesus Christ, uniting a human body from the Holy Virgin to his Eternal Person, becomes the cause of eternal life to mankind.
This is the new human race born afresh as new creations in Christ through Holy baptism.
Paradoxically, after the Fall, in a state of corruption and death, Adam calls Eve, the “Mother of the Living.”
Strange.
For all die in Adam.
But since all are made alive in Jesus—the new Adam—the Holy Virgin becomes the new Eve, as prophetically expressed, “The Mother of the Living.”
We Orthodox title her, “Mother of God,” “Theotokos” in Greek, “God Birth-Giver.”
Outrageous?
That God, Who has no beginning, should have a human mother?
No way.
It’s because the Virgin gives birth to God Who took on her humanity.
Every Sunday at Divine Liturgy we hear the priest pray, “Most Holy Theotokos Save Us!”
Baptists can’t fathom this, it’s too high for them.
The Virgin indeed saves us.
First, by assenting to receive the Eternal Son of God without seed in her womb, she saves us as the New Eve.
Second, as the “Mother of the Living” we call upon her who now reigns in heaven with Jesus, to continue her saving work in our lives.
That we, with the Virgin’s help may put off the old man, and put on the new man.
What could be simpler than this?

Wrong! Mary was just a woman, albeit a good woman, as far as any human can be “good”. But that’s all she was. She is not “queen of heaven”, and to pray to her as such is as much idolatry as praying to statues or pictures or anything else. If there is a “new Eve” it would be the Bride of Christ, the Church, whose job it is to nurture believers in their faith.
Hmmm … oh you weak minded protestants. Forty thousand protestant denominations all claiming the truth to their interpretation from a book they received from the Catholic Church. And now, they have the truth of the Holy Virgin … yeah right. For two thousand years Mary has appeared to mostly children who were not overly educated protestants, to spread the message of her Son, even with scientific proof, and protestants still reject her. Lourdes, Fatima (50,000 witnesses), Ikito, Japan, Garanbandal, Spain, Our Lady of Zeitoun, Egypt (millions of witnesses) Medjugorji, the Tilma of Juan Diego from the 1500’s Mexico, etc., etc. So … deny science, and the Holy Mother is to deny her Son … not a prosperous thing to do with such arrogance, and quite sad.
Give me the child and by age seven I will give you the adult.

I am lead to beleive this view Brother Nat is leaning toward idolatry! The Catholic Church would be all- in with your personal view though. Sorry my brother in Christ but my ‘Discernment Bell’ just rang. It doesn’t ring true.
Where does God dwell? Now in the Flesh HE dwelt in the Virgin’s holy womb and has caused the Uncontainable God to be Contained.
Her womb therefore has become W-i-d-e-r that the Heavens! Roman Catholic papists who speak about the Faith don’t make mistakes 100% of the time- Give thanks to God for that. If they overdo a Truth (Mariology/ Peter-papism) that doesn’t take away from the ORIGINAL APOSTOLIC Faith.
Jesus is God’s Son! Yes, that got that one right, but so, what? They’re one the money with that statement but bankrupt as far as their faith is concerned. So we see that Orthodoxy is not about “sound-bites” or “one-verse biblical theology”. It’s a viable Living Soul Healing Hospital Whose Head Physician is Christ Jesus Our Lord. Now if our beloved God-Man Christ assigns one of HIS medical/spiritual assistant (confessor-priest or even abbot/abbes) then fine. He’s still in charge.

So what’s your problem Mr Smith & Mr Michael Shirey? Let your mind chew on this: Who was the first person to be Saved? Clue: Look! It was a Woman!
